Weigh-In Wednesday – Jan. 16, 2013
Oh second week weight loss, where art thou?
I totally missed writing a weigh-in blog post last week, in favor of screaming all over social media sites that I lost 8.2 pounds!!! 12 pounds since January 1st!!! I finally got a ’10 pounds lost’ bead from my mom for my charm bracelet!!! (the pink one)

So imagine my disapproval when I weighed-in this morning and the scale pointed and giggled as is flashed 288.2 – a 1.8 pound gain.
Possible reasons?
- I’ve finally gotten rid of the majority of the cold I’ve had for a month (I was never really hungry).
- I had two pieces of pizza on Saturday.
- I had a sugar-free mocha (that I did not finish because it gave me a raging headache).
- Not enough sleep
Omelets for breakfast. Salads for lunch. Meat and veggies/salad for dinner. I haven’t been hungry for snacks. I’m drinking tea and water.
Ugh!
Admittedly I have not been following the 21 Day Sugar Detox as exactly laid out, but I have to say that the last 16 days have been better for me than pretty much all of last year, so I’m really happy with what I’ve done so far!
I guess my next step is to get back into a workout routine… or start one. I’ve been really horrible about working out lately, and starting again seems to be the hardest part. I did do a great new dance workout DVD yesterday called Dancinerate, and I’m working on a review post for it. The problem is that I am becoming increasing aware that my aging overweight body doesn’t (can’t?) move like it used too. I’m trying to stay positive, and I need to just keep doing it, but it’s kind of a bummer when you realize that the thing you love the most, is something you can no longer do well – even (hopefully) temporarily.
On a positive note, I’m really looking forward to this weekend because I’m purging my apartment of clutter! I’ve already rearranged all my furniture and now it’s time to tackle my closets and kitchen.
Clutter be gone! And take the mental clutter with you.
Have you ever had to re-learn a favorite exercise because of a physical change or injury?
Your question really hit me! I have days or weeks at a time where my knees are too bad to run. And when I do get back on the treadmill, I feel like I am starting from scratch all over again.
It is so, so frustrating!
Besides my weight, my knee is my next biggest problem. I haven’t run in SO long because I’m afraid of hurting it, and setting me back even further. Good job for continuing to get back on the treadmill though! PS: your Corgi is adorable!! My parents have two corgi-mixes. Love them!
Thank you so much! She is the cutest, isn’t she? SO grumpy. I love it.
I know that we can do anything… despite our weight, and our dumb-ass knees!

I broke my arm one summer and had to learn to to everything with my left hand. It was hard, but I gained all these new abilities. I swore I’d keep it up when I got my cast off, but I didn’t. Ah well.
As for your minor weight gain I tell all my clients any weight gain less than 2 pounds has more to do with water than anything else. If you had a cold your body may have been dehydrated from losing so many fluids. A little bit of weight gain is good as you recover from an illness.
Just keep up the good work sister! You can do it!
be well

Thank you! Yeah, I usually try not to let a small gain bother me when I know I’ve been doing well, but after such a big loss the week before I wasn’t prepared for the gain. Ah well… ONWARD! :)
